The state of play as we know it is: there is an option deal in place pending Woodside committing Interim results of the survey WDS paid for due Aug Final results due Oct Till the deal is signed then PCL & WDS are free agents. What would play out if a Super Major got aggressive with PCL by way over full on market takeover before WDS signed the option agreement.
At the point that interim data is known would that be enough to provide a Super Major to get hostile with PCL before the option is signed and shut WDS out, then the Super Major undertakes a smaller targeted survey on their own accord, which would be small change for the whole pie.
Those in the know would have insights of what's potentially there well ahead of interim and final data these guys aren't operating in a cone of silence.
To best of our knowledge WDS doesn't have a significant blocking holding in PCL to prevent any hostile acquisition of PCL.
Thoughts on possibility of this playing out or what safe guards might be in place to protect WDS from being shut out??
