saw that too @Surfer Sam Flowing oil into a plastic bucket reeks of amateurish practices...surely someone has a stainless bucket with an earthing lead and bonding clamp. I was also non plussed when they showed us the roughneck with a water bottle full of oil. 1950's maybe, not today. The one saving grace was that at 11deg API, the oil has zero volatiles and maybe a flash point over 200c. But given theyre (I'm) expecting 20 and 30 deg API oil, you think they would have a standard set up for all their gear.
Anyway, Im still pretty happy with this result. One of the big caveats was whether they could get the oil they encountered to flow. AP continually said, not only does it flow, but they had to struggle to hold it back. This result simply confirms the qualitative data issued by the team last year and for me, it is more than likely now these reservoirs will pack some punch.
And the best is yet to come. Zone 1A had unloggable zone near the base of the surface casing, (which seems to be what they currently tested) and we saw why it was not possible to log it, when you look at the core. Zone 1B was where they had the 200 odd metres of unloggable hole. Cant wait for that one.
