It's common knowledge that when equities go up, USD goes down.
Friday December 4, 2009 saw equities and USD move in the same direction (up) whilst gold got smacked down hard. Main reason was positive NFP numbers.
Thursday July 1, 2010 saw equities and USD move in the same direction (down) and gold got smacked down hard. One day prior to NFP.
I'll leave the dates to you.
