To answer your question, AXE did develop software to both control the delivery of fluids to channels as well as to detect target analytes and do read outs. It was all part of a hardware-software platform needed to deploy and test the gFET chips and adjust sensitivity of the chip. This was part of the prototype announcement in Nov 2022.

In today's announcement it reads that this work is still continuing in parallel ( "The team is also currently improving its functionality to better detect diseases") . with several different packaging designs of chips being sent to do test wafer runs initially. These are typically 6 in diameter sample wafers which they will get from the foundries by year end. Then assess which designs best fit the final technical requirements of the chip. If commercial chip manufacture is being looked at now, it looks like the timelines are a shorter than I expected. To do things in parallel as they are is really working full steam with a range of production foundries and is great technical progress.

Just to add my other opinions on this, I would have liked a clearer idea of where this chip ends up being used. 'Detection' is being addressed, but what are they targeting. 'Prevention' has been ,mentioned and that will need high volumes of data to do machine learning or more probably AI algorithms on. So the data these biochips end up detecting will also have 'value'.
