An appraisal well is any well following the exploration well that is drilled in order to assess extent and viability of a reserve.
There in lies the rub.
Apart from booking a discovery and answering a few questions about the make up of the basin, the BIGGEST question is, is it viable/commercial?
Only one way to find that out....anyways I'm not going to get my way and I think its a very big mistake IMO.
