cheers tappie.... yes the Voice has strong arguments against it, with the ATSIC precedent being the strongest... but many more weak arguments. and imo many strong arguments in favour.... all need to be questioned wart validity.
the precedent matter is ok in law, but people will vote depending more on emotional and rational viewpoints with less regard to precedents imo. many people are less aware of history, even on HC some reject history. and referenda issues are different, even though some will take insufficient interest in understanding the issue and simply vote No! because they don't understand the issues. we are all just human and fallible hey.
the republic referendum would have passed if the question hadn't been a choice of No! or Howard's model. few who wanted a republic wanted Howard's model. he set it up to fail imo.
"struggling" was probably a poor choice of descriptive, but I read your posts avidly and notice the swing from time to time. I think 'here's an intelligent person looking at all sides' and this is laudable. this is why I suggested ethics, I wasn't sure if you had considered ethical decision principles. its something I used with my nursing students when working at uni. but even using ethical framework, it can be a painstaking process.
respect tappie.
