Selling out is the tricky part of investing. Especially with resource companies you don't want to be too early or too late.

resource companies usually have a peak production target and revenue and profits can be calculated pretty easily from that data this can give you a P/E multiple for the company you can cross reference this to the sector or the industry to see if the sector or industry is trading at higher multiple ( Expensive) or lower ( cheaper) and compare where your company trades at.

Currently the metals and mining sector is trading at a P/E of around 12. For HCH if they made earnings of net 500 million based on 120k copper at $8 k/T copper the average PE of 12 would value HCH at $6 billion.

obviously if the resource grew as did the extraction rate and copper price, the the value would also rise.

For now there's no hurry to make a sell decision as yet as HCH is a long way off it's PEA estimates both in terms of NPV and production targets.

Another way to look at it is when you see or hear another person that you know which has no clue about the sharemarket mention to you about this great company called Hot Chili Limited, you've probably reached the point of selling your holding.

Just enjoy the ride for now.
