It seems that @malvernmoe has "ignored" me, because I'm blocked from replying to his Post #: 68813224 in which he said:

"I can see where you're coming from and somewhat agree but again, they'll also be cautious of doing unnecessary damage to the value of their share holdings by declaring too large of a dividend."

My reply would have been:

But surely they'll be happy with the actual cash in their hands, which will offset the temporary 'paper loss' when the SP drops on the ex-div date, before recovering again in anticipation of the next dividend.
