Thanks for that Beans, you nay well be right that this is a happy coincidence, I did some digging but most of what you can find now is inconclusive as to who was in charge of what,

My research notes from that time asked the same question as I am asking now in capitals. As I recall, I had contact with various people in the know at the time and we discussed why things were being done that way. Was alerted by Pilots that it was'nt going to happen if they drilled wildcats at the edge of the formations - I pulled out and made a decent quid. I think GDN did have the handle on the drilling operations and I also think if incompetence was part of the mix it was GDN's decision to engage Wheatherfords. I have a note here that there was some hassle when Rdb got on board prior to #pb2 with a shake up as to who was in charge.

The question as to why things were done that way has never been resolved but I could not see Eclipse voluntarily falling on their sword. GDN had the most to gain in terms of field evaluation and Eclipse were put on their bike. From all my evaluations of GDN management, they scrub up on every other front as very shrewd operators from a business perspective and RdB with a standout record, although not necessarily from the short term shareholders point of view - which is'nt relevant to success anyway.

SO MANY QUESTIONS - SO FEW ANSWERS I'm still convinced we will see a timed run.
