What is Edge AI?
Edge AI performs computation that is necessary for AI at the edge device of each field without sending the data to the cloud. The stand-alone operation without connecting to the internet can protect privacy, achieve real-time performance, ensure security, so it is advantageous to the cloud.
MegaChips Edge AI Solution
We have 2 kinds of solutions of AI cores to realize Edge AI.
BrainChip
- BrainChip: Lower cost / Low power consumption AI accelerator (Support on-chip learning)
- Quadric: General-purpose AI processor (DSP/CPU functions incorporated)
Combining BrainChip’s revolutionary neuromorphic technology that holds on-chip training function with MegaChips advanced integration technology will contribute to solve customer’s various problems.

Based on the extensive experience and design assets that we have accumulated in R&D as a development partner of our customers since our foundation, we will solve customer problems by developing creative algorithms and architectures that are optimal for customers’ applications and serve to enhance competitiveness of the products.

- Video transmission LSI: LSI for surveillance camera equipped with RVC (Realtime Video Codec)
- LSI for TV: Equipped with Picture in picture, double windows, MPEG2 to H.264 transcoder
- Resolution conversion LSI for projector
- LSI for DSC (Digital Still Camera)
- Media processor for mobile phone
- Image recognition LSI
Parsley is a SoC configuration specialized for embedded image recognition and has following features.
- Strong image recognition DSP
- DRAM less: High-capacity SRAM + Flash (SiP)
- Image processing accelerator
- Necessary and sufficient Peripheral group
- Expected applications : motion detection, tracking, gesture recognition, abnormal detection and others
Development environment (SDK)
- Eclipse-based IDE
- Programming of recognition algorithm can be started immediately.
- Input image from a sensor and middleware conceals complicated process like video display.
- Except for DSP programming, can be controlled with command I/F from UART or push switch.
- Industry standard OpenCV compatible library is available in DSP programming.
