Plug your car in when home at 6pm and its peak power pricing on a TOU meter. So 65c/kWh. Peak runs to 8pm, then shoulder (42c or so IIRC) until 10pm and off peak till 6am there after. If your not doing many K's your EV is going to be charging mostly in peak and shoulder periods. Lets average them to 50c per kilawasp hour.
Model 3 Tesla ($60,000) has 550km range from 82kWh battery or 14.91kWh per 100km. A 100km round trip to work each day will use 14.91kWh. This will cost $7.50 removing any loses in charger and inefficiencies in the electrical circuit and battery ie AC - DC losses.
Mazda 3 SP Model ($34,000) has economy of 6.5 l/100km combined (8.5 city, 5.3 highway). So will use 6.5L of fuel for the same 100km. At $2/L thats $13 and it takes less than a minute to fill up.
The price difference between the two is $26,000. The savings in "fuel" for the the 100km trip is $5.50 for the Tesla. To break price parity without factoring in services, the Telsa must drive (26,000 / 5.5) * 100km = 472,727km
Even if the cost of power is 100% FREE, the Tesla will still need to drive a considerable distance to break even as the Mazda owner can buy 13,000L of fuel for the price difference, fueling it for (13,000/6.5) * 100 = 200,000km
None of these calcs factors in any loss of asset value, nor battery replacement / disposal costs, or services.
And once, again, they dont reduce the global temps by even 1/1000th of a degree...
