Why is it assumed companies of this size would do exhaustive DD over a $15m investment? Are they likely to spend $1.5m on advisors in respect of a $15m investment?
I would just as soon assume they treat the investment as a minor one, with the risk of losing the whole investment justifiable given the potential upside.
Not suggesting the investment did involve some level of due diligence - it must have. And it is somewhat of a vote of confidence. Just not sure a $15m investment proves that Stellanis has a high level of confidence or has minutely scrutinised the project. More likely they’re taking a number of small stakes in various strategic suppliers and hoping a few of them make it.
