Pascoe is only one person. he's an example perhaps but his status is not important in the greater scheme of the debate on the Voice..... he's a distraction.
but to answer your fair question: I don't know.
his claim is qualified according to the tri-part test. he's been accepted by the Aboriginal community among which he lives. his lifestyle reflects his contention. I personally don't have a problem with it.
but what I do dislike is the apparently false claims, as reported in the post you and I have copied only small parts of. it smacks of a conspiracy to fraudulently claim Aboriginality.
This IS a real problem. Are You happy with people lying to claim to be Aboriginal?
I don't know what the solution is other than to maintain the tri-part test. if proof of acceptance by the Aboriginal community can be conclusively shown I think this is worth placing emphasis on.
