Not only has South32 pissed US$ 1.3Bn against the wall.
-Add 5 years of holding costs US300M?
-Add the pre-commitment capex US300M?
-Opportunity costs of forgone cash flows of simply buying an operating asset.. US700M?
I think the true cost to Shareholders is closer to US$ 2.5 - 3 Bn.
Heads should roll for this.
