Incorrect, 3x the past yield, not 3x the return or yield over an amount of time. The yield is one component of the total return.
The yield on a Treasury for a given investment is known, the yield on the value of a treasury over time changes as the value of the Treasury changes with interest changes.
The yield on CSL will depend on it's earnings and payout ratio. The capital value will depend on earnings, growth of those earnings, competition, interest rates, inflation, cost of goods, value of the USD, the performance of the sector & markets its in, investor sentiment, the amount of money going into ASX index funds, the list goes on.
