Something really wrong with miners in this MC these days. Too many under capitalised zombie miners out there even in gold (NML for instance). The commodity tailwind makes it hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. This game used to be so simple it was a margins and growth in production game. These days the commodity price driven tailwind have brought out the less than scrupulous operators into the mining game. Plenty of pitfalls out there so watch out.
As stated in Post #:68968309 Square away the majors in the portfolio they at least offer capital protection, dividends and plenty of cash and cashflow for the vicissitudes of the mining lifecycle. Most of the time these small little miners are more trouble than they are worth. High risk high return, inconsistent production, accretion (if at all) is lumpy and needs a very close eye on the balance sheet is not the place top be. Mining is inherently capital intensive but these small cap miners are even more so. Best kept to a minimum when access capital is hard to come by.
