They did not make an ASX announcement saying "we are bidding for LTR gig". So why should they specifically make a price sensitive ASX announcement "we're out of LTR " when there is really nothing to say?
The quarterly was always scheduled to be due today, so today's the day to announce they're out of LTR.
ESS opportunity only came about after they lodged the first round of tender in May. The ESS bid was not made official until 4-July. By withdrawing from LTR, this essentially could mean ESS is already in the bag come 12-October vote.
I think the report is saying we are going be too busy for the messy, draggy and low margin LTR gig since we are going to mine our own lithium instead. Awesome!
