@daicosisgod; with an El Nino event now predicted for our region you may soon find out why the Wonthaggi Desal Plant is so important - don't forget that as Melbourne rockets to nine million people by 2055 and global warming escalates that fresh water security will be even more important.

It's common knowledge that the insurance sector is fighting insurance claims tooth and nail and that bushfire and flood losses weren't limited to private owners. IMO our state government should do what it has with third party motor insurance - become the default insurer for those who own affordable housing in areas the private sector refuses to cover or wherein it demands prohibitive fees.

I've indeed travelled extensively throughout Victoria in recent times. I'm only too aware of the potholes that had to be fixed as well as whole sections of roads that had to be replaced - my wife wrecked another set of tyres recently and her claims were denied. The elephant in the room is our large heavy trucks speeding along country roads never designed to withstand 100kmh plus and loads up to 80 tonnes - even when roads are saturated below the surface.

Re the Kennett Era and it's approach, how many more decades in opposition does your side of politics need before you realise that the Victorian People expect governments to plan for core public infrastructure and services. Nor will they ever forget how the private sector was gifted and guaranteed soaring power prices forever and a day! That's why they emphatically backed Andrews' promise to resurrect the SEC.
