The ASX has specifically advised companies against doing this in its guidance note. The correct approach is to announce a TH prior to calling big holders to give them a heads up.

As you have mentioned, this practice just gives big holders unfair access to market sensitive information which they can use to gain advantage at everyone else's expense. Minbos needs to take this stuff seriously (not just the CR thing, but communication of sensitive information generally).
