What would you have done differently? They plugged in the wafers, they didn't light up, function test, metrics test not possible. That's a lot failure, not possible to sit on it really.
Even though the underlying memory array has been demonstrated to not have been ruined by the etch, they couldn't evaluate performance, so it's still a failure.
