A couple of aphorisms spring to mind, one being - "you can only reason with a reasonable man".
I was in Port Moresby a couple of decades ago. We were selling ERP software to one of the majors - it might have been Steamships, or possibly SP Brewing.
The team comprised two Australians, a guy from the headquarters of the company in Colorado, another from Asia, possibly Hong Kong. A fine time was had, one guy had crocodile steak, mine was the best barramundi I had eaten, and there were, of course ample liquid refreshments to aid the conversation.
Our friend from Denver made what he thought was an important point, with a typical mid west flavour.
Ma pappy told me, he said - NEVER wrastle with a pig!!
Good stories are better told by a natural storyteller......and here he paused pregnantly.
Then leaning towards us, his audience he let us in on the secret. Ya know whay? YOU get muddy - .......and the pig ENJOYS it!!
Sometimes we deal with Curs, and sometimes Morons, and the trick is to know when to stop wrastling.
