pwinne, in my opinion the only reason the downturn didn't continue in 2008 was due to the introduction of the Firt Home Buyers Boost and the loosening of foreign buyers rules, both of these changes have now been removed allowing the downtrend to restart.
Anyone dropping property in 2007/2008 and heading to a real safe asset like Gold would have done particularly well.
IMHO the only reason you would think prices will continue to increase in the short to medium term (property) is if you think the Government will be able to restimulise.
