I don't know about NAID or 'exclusive rights', but Biotron did get an invite to test their compound/s against Zika free of charge. The compounds were found to be effective in the tests that were performed and no more was ever mentioned. There were two, maybe three announcements, one talked about the invite for free testing and a much later one had a throwaway line about the tests having positive results. Nothing after that, that I could find.
Sounds ripe for conspiracy theories.
