@WoodySpoon ... The lake is only 8m deep and not overly large, it can be drained when they get permission. Permission is given often in the area for large projects. There is no shortage of these types of lakes throughout the Northern areas of Canada, so it would be highly unlikely for there to be anything 'special' that needed to be retained in this small lake.
The water argument is just something used by a few that want to knock to project, realistically it's not an issue...
