I think the op makes a fair point. Being this close to success or failure warrents a daily update in my opinion.
I don't think posters have the right to determine what's a legitimate thread. This is an open forum within a set rules. If you don't like it go and start your own forum. Plenty of open source software available on the internet to do it.
