They are playing games.
They like to do this to make the unsure sell out.
When they ahve enough they let it run and not before.
Most times they get away with this but occasionally another big player comes along and takes what ever they are orepared to lose as they try and keep it down.
eg A Uranium explorer went from 10c to 20c upon announcement of a tier 1 find but then was forced back to 10c. Eventually it went to >$5.00.
Normally they can only get away with this before earnings start and or are some time off.
