We had a pittance in the bank given the boom times over many years. We had skills shortages, infrastructure shortages but we did get WorkChoices. After the Coalition got the boot and the worst GFC in 70 years hit the Opposition would have sold business and hundreds of thousands of jobs down the drain by opposing the stimulus and refusing to go into deficit. We would have slipped into recession, unemployment would have skyrocketed. An Opposition that would rather have seen business and workers suffer because they saw that as a way into government by then trying to pin it on Rudd.
I dont oppose the mining industry. In fact I trade mining shares. However as an Australian first i appreciate the Miners must pay a reasonable amount to make their profits from our non renewable commodities. Abbott wants to rescind what the multi-nationals have agreed to pay. How un-australian is that?
