A scary bit of trivia …… data centers consume approx 10% of global energy production. Most of this energy is used in running the servers and cooling systems. The US Dept of Energy says that the larger data centers require about 100MW of power which is enough to power 80 000 households.

The climate change issue is something that is likely to factor in to many investment decisions in the future. It is one reason I bought into companies like Brainchip, with the possibility through AI of reducing power usage in eg. Refrigerators which are in almost all homes in 1st world countries and account for up to 20% of power usage. If you can save even 10-15 % of that power globally …… it makes a big difference. There will come a time where the use of these things will be legislated and mandatory…….. but cost benefits should sell themselves .

The volume of data is growing exponentially on the back of faster access like 5G. What 4DS is trying to accomplish could well hit a sweet spot in the market if we are successful.
