For example, why doesn't Trump, a billionaire that openly mocks climate change, fund some of the science that can disprove the current consensus view? Or all the other openly right-wing billionaires?
Why not the saudis (whose public sovereign wealth fund has a mere $594B to deploy - that will pay for a few scientists)? Or the Russian oil oligarchs? Why are they not funding science to support your whacky views?? They certainly have vested interests in doing so.
The answer is because the science has only strengthened over time in support of the current consensus view and these institutions know it would essentially be throwing money away.
