I highly doubt the Government would invest directly into a for-profit company such as EQR. They'd limit their input to grants at the state/fed level or tax breaks/credits at the fed level.
Guess we'll have to wait and see though. Lots of varied possibilities but so far looks like we all agree that given managements behavior and the company's current position this has got to be someone approaching us with a sweet deal.
