Timeline
July 2007: GE submits a license amendment request to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for research and development associated with laser enrichment.
May 13, 2008: Global Laser Enrichment begins operating a test loop using its enrichment technology.
June 20, 2008: Uranium producer Cameco Corp. agrees to invest $123.8 million to acquire a 24 percent interest in Global Laser Enrichment.
Jan. 30, 2009: GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, parent of Global Laser Enrichment, submits its environmental report for the facility
March 23, 2009: Nuclear Regulatory Commission begins review of the laser uranium enrichment plant
June 26, 2009: GEH files a complete license application.
June 17, 2010: NRC staff issue its draft environmental impact statement for the project, and a public meeting is scheduled for July 22 in Wilmington.
