IDK where the misconception comes from that GF have some kind of magical powers in Mali due to being IDK Chinese and big, but it's often repeated here in HC threads - though with no evidence whatever to back it up. It's not a thing IMO.
I wouldn't expect any love from Malian courts whatever and yes countries can change the rules according to their lawmaking bodies. But changing the rules halfway through and reversing legal decisions with illegal ones can also be challenged in international courts. Though at a guess we have just been screwed and have to like it or lump it.
Seems to me unless something majorly positive develops in the next two weeks we are dropping a minimum of 30% on first day back trading, and Mali have done us exactly zero favours on building any kind of trust within the investor community to attract new investors. Our reward for investing in Mali and its people has been for them to F us.
