I realise you like to butt heads on most everything but I don’t think anyone has suggested magical powers - I certainly haven’t, but nor have I made authoritative statements without any evidence yet that the new mining code doesn’t somehow fiddle with permit definitions around resource exploration vs exploitation vs expansion either. This is, I think, what we are all waiting to learn from the horses mouth.
What we can reasonably assume, though, is that China has more clout with the Mali government of the moment over how their resources will be extracted, where they will get further processed, and for whom than a bunch of (well meaning) guys from Perth or broader Australian delegations to Bamako do. So my point was I’d much rather have GF’s partnership than not if these discussions are proving tricky.
