Thanks for the post and link. It reveals enough nervousness on the part of China that they have to create an article like this. Obviously they want to maintain their stranglehold on RE products but have become concerned over Western efforts. I assume that China Daily is a propaganda production aimed at English speaking readers but the article makes more sense as something to make Chinese readers feel good about their country. At least ASM is making progress without Chinese involvement but regrettably, many other REE companies have entered, or are entering, alliances with Chinese producers like Shenghe. Western governments have been asleep at the wheel for the past two decades and even Mountain Pass joined up with Shenghe. You would think that ASM with the KMP plant and technology would be receiving maximum assistance for strategic reasons. Lynas is getting help with its planned USA plant but that is about all. In the battery anode market, which has similar Chinese dominance, SYR is receiving funding support from the US Federal Government.
