It's all about cost cutting, just like whenever you ring big pond technical support, a Phillipino voice always answers the phone in Manila. You want to find out how long your outage will last, and they have absolutely no idea where in Australia your suburb is. In fact it's a miracle if you can understand their accents half the time. Its no longer possible to speak to a human being at the start of the call, and certainly not one that resides in Australia.
