As anyone who has either directly had cancer or has seen cancer affect someone close to them, they hope that treatment can bring remission and hopefully eventual disease free status.
Here's what our resident fake doctor McStuffup thinks:
"Most mortality, even in severe aGVHD, is from remission of the primary cancer."
This clown thinks remission is the leading cause of mortality in cancer.
No doctor would be that dumb, but here we are.
So would a doctor post the garbage above, or would he actually research it?
There are many reasons why Japan isn't a great example for the FDA, primarily its pre and post transplant treatment regimes vary greatly from those used in the US.
"Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Japan is very different from that in Western countries in terms of the homogeneous genetic background, the preference for bone marrow to peripheral blood stem cells, use of a single unit in cord blood transplantation, and frequent use of non-myeloablative preconditioning due to a large number of elderly patients. Therefore, conclusions obtained from well-designed prospective and/or comparative studies of treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) performed in the United States or Europe may not fit Japanese transplant patients."
Murata 2015
In fact the medical literature [Tanimoto et al 2004] claimed that genetic homgeneity might be a contributor to lower incidence of GVHD amongst Japanese patients versus Western patients. And [Inamato et al 2008] showed that treatment differences alone were not able to account for the differences, though they found that actual aGVHD incidence was similar, but the pathway of the diseased differed and fewer Japanese had chronic GVHD (15% vs 30%).
Kanda et al 2015 found "The risk of grade III or IV acute GVHD was significantly lower in the Japanese patients compared with the Caucasian patients (hazard ratio [HR], 0.74; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.57 to 0.96), which resulted in lower risk of nonrelapse mortality in the Japanese patients (HR, 0.69; 95% CI, 0.54 to 0.89)."
So basically the populations aren't comparable.
Interestingly however, Murata and Teshima "Treatment of Steroid-Refractory Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease Using Commercial Mesenchymal Stem Cell Products" 2021, found:"The efficacy of Temcell was evaluated in 381 consecutive patients treated with Temcell during the initial 3 years after its approval. Interestingly, its real-world efficacy was found to be equivalent to that observed in a prospective study of remestemcel-L with strict eligibility criteria."Basically they are saying that the Japanese results show the same response rates as the retrospective pediatric data that MSB presented to the FDA.
So why does the fake doc continue to post this crap?Because he knows he can produce FUD out of his fundamental orifice faster than anyone could possibly make the effort of rebutting him.
