I have to agree with you, Zip is heading to being a profitable company 4QFY23 update brings revenue 4QFY23 +21% yoy to $193.8m, brings FY23 to $727m (pretty much in line with $725 consensus).
Active customer numbers -0.9% qoq to 6.2m, with US -0.7% to 3.9m and ANZ -1.1% to 2.3m. But revenue growing fast in both sectors (+14% and +26% respectively). Zip is growing its quality customer revenues and dropping risky non-returning customers; and more so when regulations take affect at the end of the year hence cash transaction margin improves to 3.1% for the quarter and net bad debts as % of TTV falls further to 1.86% (below the promised -2%)
The US credit loss rates (net) further improved to 0.85% of TTV (1.2% 3Q23) but Australia slightly higher 3.11% (3Q23 2.56%) if you understand the structures of the two respective mkts and effects on monetary lag, QE & QT which affects numbers. Interest rates need to be factored in as well, but this is all a part of the mechanism, controlling inflation with a big hammer. Another point is rates will come down once inflation has returned to the required numbers. (Lies Lies & Statistics )
Whilst its fall from its 2021 highs based on cheap money covid lock down etc and due to cash burn and their global footprint vision now reversed this has been sorted and the belts have been tightened not before time management should have known better.
It looks like ZIP's business is now probably running cash EBTDA positive in the last quarter. I didn't think they'd achieve that in the current macro environment, but they have, if anyone was looking at the business last year you wouldn't have thought they could turn it around - but also, I didn't think ZIP shares would be $0.42c either but the short interest was unbelievable, now that has dropped considerably Regulatory risks recently reduced in Oz, improved balance sheet that last reduction in the capital notes from its liability exercise moves Zip in the right direction finally and not before time, to become a profitable BNPL Tech company.
Can other like-minded posters on this forum please provide positive material with their opinion. Onward & Upward for Zip
