There is a difference between Marxist Greenies and environmentalists, conservationists, naturists etc.

If you're not living in some east coast Urban conglomerate you might actually know that the Julimar area is valuable to a very wide range of people from any and all political views.

Do you know what the Avon Descent is?

Do you know what Carnaby Cockatoo conservation is? How long people have been spent doing that?

Do you know what a chuditch is and how much habitat it has left in the Northern Jarrah forest?

Do you know about orchid hunting in Spring time?

Do you know how many people enjoy the drive from Perth to Toodyay on the weekend because of the forest being there? Are Harley Riders now considered far left Greenies?

This is just touching on a small part of it. Not even counting the Indigenous views on the area.

I understand it's easy to just say anyone who doesn't want to tear down a major part of the Northern Jarrah forest is a "far left Greenie". But the story is far more complex than that.

It's not an obscure part of the forest. It's a place that many Perth people have a strong connection with. Mention Julimar forest at a pub in Perth and most people are going to know of it.

This is on top of a state that is banning Jarrah logging next year.

It might give you more hope thinking it's only a tiny fringe extremist group that would resist the project, but I feel that it would become a major rallying point for a much larger diverse spectrum of people. That's just my view on the actual local knowledge. Not based on reading numbers from an office tower in Sydney.
