The last update I'm aware of on Met test work for Mt Ida was May 2022. That was a small sample with a global recovery of 50% to 6.08%. A lower average grade of ore for the test work would likely lower this recovery, but targeting a lower average grade like SC5.5 would increase it. DMS only recovery isn't at a robust level, but neither is it absolutely terrible.

The table below looks at Ewoyaa DFS recovery rates. Atlantic called their coarse grained Spod P1 while the fine grained spod was called P2. Most was P1 but there's some P2. As you can see, when you try to put fine grained spod through a HLS recovery test the recovery results are terrible (17.5% and 25.0%). The interpretation Atlantic made was that this would get even worse in the real world DMS setting for a potential 5% to 15% recovery rate (depending on the minimum crush size chosen).

If Mt Ida was primarily fine grained Spod, the HLS test result should have been worse and more of the overall result would have come from flotation recoveries. If it was mainly coarse grained spod it would have been better than 50%. IMO Mt Ida's Spod ore is a mix of coarse and fine grained Spod..

Both coarse grained and fine grained spod can be concentrated in Australia (because Australia exports Spod concentrates), but there isn't any established contract processing industry. The concentration plants that exist are associated with existing deposits and work full-time on concentration work for those deposits and mine owners. DF is correct - if you want your DSO concentrated, you need to send it to China [Because Australia hasn't built the contract concentration capacity]. Mt Marion that MinRes have may be the closest that Australia has to contract concentration capacity.
