Product quality is poor, contrary to what you say, but more importantly, from my visits it's put prices up faster than COL, WOW and IGAs.
If you want a more personal experience, shop at a larger IGA (including, but not limited to, a Ritchies) where the prices are often competitive but most of all these tend to have many items ranged that COL, WOW and Aldi do not carry.
I don't find the self-serve checkouts at WOW/COL 'inhuman'.
Aldi seems to have the most intrusive security guards of all. Aldi also treats its staff very poorly: I have seen a manager berate one in front of shoppers - not a good look.
Remember with Aldi, profits go to Germany. COL/WOW and MTS have a lot of local ownership through Australian superannuation funds, institutions and we peasant retail SH.
