Watched an interesting episode of US 60 Minutes yesterday, while doing some reasearch into other forms of tumour killing using modified viruses. In this case, the use of modified Pollio virus, in aggressive brain tumors, with very mixed results for those on the trial. From what looks to be a complete cure for some to an extended life for others. But unfortunately, also death for some from complications due to inflamation around the tumor from the immune response. Remember these tumors are in the brain, so inflammation would be much harder to manage. Questions arise here in my mind for IMU. It would be interesting to know how Dr Fong manages any inflammation from a patient's imune response and whether this has been encountered in imugene trials. Also interesting to note, that of the patients in the trial in 60 minutes episode, those that look to be cured, were given a minimal amount of the virus. While those who were given a higher dose experienced the inflammation. More is not always better. For those of you interested, I've provided a link to the episode below.
