My understanding is that Syrah often struggle to meet their product specified 95%GC. If they go under 95% this impacts their sales price. BKT average is ~98% GC from multiple bulk samples tested.
SYR also gets killed on opex because the plant is designed to output far more than they can sell. It is not scalable like BKT design. Therefore they are reliant on demand sustainably exceeding plant capacity if they are to achieve commercial economics. The costs involved for them in shutdowns and ramp up are crazy high.
