Those “ many sq km of bush” that was severely burnt 3 years ago should be pretty safe for the next 5-10 years, Scotty.

You do realise that there has been plenty of decent sized bushfires since then and even before then around this wide brown land.

We don’t have to “wait and see” Scotty, I’ll guarantee you that there will be at least a couple of decent fire events that make the news and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being a good half dozen.

By the way, our government services that deal with bushfires (paid and volunteer) job description is not to put out bushfires, their purpose is to try and reduce the impacts on infrastructure and to try and save lives.

That’s why I believe that taxpayers money would be better spent on mitigating the risks (fuel reduction burning) in the vulnerable areas before the fire season starts.

Obviously people who only see bushfire’s as a sign from the god’s that MMCO2 is the outrider of the 4 horsemen world probably prefer for taxpayers money to be spent on battery powered water bombers and fire retardants made without a carbon footprint.
