You might actually be right about the machines misreporting stuff. There's a big complaint on social media where customers detest some new technology coles has that films people and replays it to them at the self-checkout?
Apparently it screws up often if the person has a handbag or something else from another shop in the trolley, or even them leaving their phone in the basket.
It's generating a lot of vitriol online and is seen as very creepy, but perhaps it might explain that anomaly?
