With the much smaller portion of total holders being instos and a larger retail base. Would it matter if we were rebalanced out of the ASX200?
I mean apart from Insto index investing I fail to see how it would have any material impact on the overall trading of SYA on the ASX still.

Sayona shorters appeared to return shares at end of May, perhaps after the "sell in may and go away" had occurred. 30th May we had 9% held for shorting. By June 7th this had dropped to 4.27%. This also however, could correlate morseo with the capital raise announcement 26th May.


Shorting has since climbed up. probably based on 2 factors 1) Lithium spot price and macro economic pessimism and also 2) ramp up risk still hasnt gone anywhere. You also have trading historically being worse through May-Sept.

Once we get more towards Oct through Christmas, again historically speaking, shares tend to perform better.

How will SYA and its NAL operation go through the first winter months if ramp up remains on target, will be interesting to see. Perhaps there is the added potential risks here of issues with ramp up due to colder weather. But this will very much hinge on the experience of the crew and dealing with these things at other operations.

Globally we appear to be over the most part of inflation, though US data did show that it has some resilience there. Perhaps a few more hikes by the fed will sort out peoples spending mentality.

So outlook for me is remainder of Aug-Oct will be tread carefully. Oct-Dec hopefully the "worst" of the economic outlook is behind us and we can have a slow but positive growth rate into 2024.
