The Economist - Americans have burned through more than 90% of the “excess savings” they amassed in 2020 and 2021, research by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco suggests.
What little remains, the economists estimate, is likely to be gone by the end of September.
There are signs that a growing number of households are financially stretched.
