They get paid to loan their shares out to shorter. Simple as that, so they are making money from it. Meantime shorters are shorting because the company has no revenue yet and it is high valued. With regard to timing although it is available in Skywater the timeframes for development and production are normally 18 -24 months so do not expect royalties soon.
