Im no expert, however my view is,
    - they are a managed fund

    - they have a fund that targets promissing emerging companies

    - they see value in WBT and decided to invest

    - they wanted the best posdible entry price and to get it they borrowed stock (as well as bought direct) to short it to drive the price down as much as they could

    - ultimately they want to achieve a good return in that investment

    - they can do that by actively trading it, which means we might see them jump in and out of substantial holding and more volatility in the share price ie more shorting, or they may take a more passive approach if theyve reached their target holding

    - the smaller Santier holding seems to have taken the consolidated group holding over the 5% (when taken in total with the Mitsubishi holding) and that triggered the substantial holding notice

    - the by far larger holding from Mitsubishi is more intriguing as they see to have been holding this longer than Sentier. Mitsubishi are a finance company/bank, not a managed fund so what interest do they have in WBT? Why buy it? I tried to find any link between Mitsubishi the bank and Mitsubishi Motors but cant; though you would expect them to be part of the wider Mitsubishi group. Could Mitsubishi Motors have an interest in WBT and decided to buy via the banking arm? I dont know
