Shorting involves shared that are borrowed from another entity. (Usually a big fund or bank that has a long term position in the stock.) If you sell stock you don't own or haven't borrowed its naked short selling - not permitted in Oz.
Shorting while holding a long position, a form of hedging, or just trying to make more money, does happen.
But at this point, the AGGREGATE amount of short shares in 4DS is zero. So every shares sold short each day, has been covered (bought back) that day.
