lol 'left Kyiv largely intact" – yeah those thoughtful Russians...famous for exercising restraint in war aren't they! I think resource/munition constraints are the only thing stopping the Kremlin from levelling the city (I mean look at what happened to Grozny, Aleppo – to say nothing of cities in occupied Ukraine like Mariupol).
Probably also worth recalling that, during the initial stages of the (Feb22) invasion, one of the main axes of attack was toward Kiev: Russia wanted to take the capital, bop Zelensky and install a puppet. A related objective was to seize the nearby Antonov Airport, with the supposedly elite VDV airborne troops leading the charge. But it didn't work out like that. After days of fighting, the VDV were pushed back; it emerged that some had brought parade uniforms and other celebratory items with them, expecting to hold victory parades lol. Within the first few weeks, the advance stalled, with Russian forces suffering heavy losses. By late March, Russia gave up on trying to seize Kiev and withdrew forces from around the capital to focus on the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine instead.
So after failing to take Kiev, they now periodically target the city with airstrikes. They have a finite supply of missiles and drones (esp the former) – so while most are used against mil targets on the battlefield or critical infrastructure throughout Ukraine, occasionally they will allocate a few to terrorising the population of Kiev (and yes, often it seems in retaliation to successful Ukrainian strikes, e.g. against the Kerch Bridge etc). To imply the Russians are exercising restraint in their conduct of this war of aggression (which they started – and could just as easily end) is so hilariously delusional I'm fairly sure you are just trolling (either that or are a useful idiot for the Kremlin).
